#2 This project has no due date! Hopefully we will start recieving Gingerbread
Men by January 1st!
Each Gingerbread Baby visits with our Families and Friends. I will provide each family with 2 Gingerbread
men. Please pick 2 family members or friends that live in other counties, states, or countries. Send
them/give them a Gingerbread man, ask them to
decorate him so that he represents where they live. They are then asked to send the Gingerbread Baby
back to Harmony Leland in a self addressed envelope.
For example, my cousin in San Diego might decorate him with
sand from the beach or pictures/stickers from the San Deigo Zoo. When my family lived in Birmingham,
they decorated a Gingerbread man with a UAB Blazers sticker, an Alabama football jersey and the Alabama
flag. It doesn't have to be super fancy, just coloring it will do! Our goal is that it comes from somewhere else.
We will plot them on the U.S. map to show where they come from. If you send them to another
country, we will show that Gingerbread man on the world map! Standards- Social Studies- Learning
about the different cultures and regions that our family members represent. Respecting differences.

dress up like your person!
Standards: According to Picasso's scope and sequence of the state standards, January's Social
Studies focus will be Martin Luther King Jr., the struggle for peace and equality. Again, according to Picasso's scope
and sequence of the state standards, February's Social Studies Focus will be the Presidents of the United States. February is
also African-American Month,so we will be taking the liberty to blend the 2 topics for that second week of February.
